Abstract/Summary

A walkover survey of land on Wallover Down, South Regis Common, Castle Common and Fullaford Down was carried out in November and December 2017 in advance of Mire restoration to be carried out by the Exmoor Mires Partnership. The work was carried out in order to characterise, quantify and locate known and unknown heritage assets within the defined survey areas. The are contains lots of features which relate to the late 19th Century enclosure and improvement of common land which borders Exmoor Forest, as well as several unrecorded medieval hollow ways and a Bronze Age cairn.
