MDE11661 - Natural feature on Wallover Down (Non-antiquity)

A round mound is visible on aerial photographs on the west side of Wallover Down and may be a barrow. [1,2] No archaeological feature is visible on the ground in the vicinity of the National Grid Reference cited (SS 6909 3910). However, a patch of rushes at SS 6909 3911 is almost certainly the feature identified by [2]. [3] The feature was not located during field investigation of the site in 2017. It was suggested to be a misinterpretation of vegetation marks on the photographs. [4] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [5]
