Description
The archaeological walkover surveys described in this report were undertaken on behalf of the Exmoor Mires Project (EMP) to provide as full a picture of the historic environment on Deer Park, Exmoor as possible, in order to allow effective planning of mitigation measures in advance of mire restoration work. An initial stage of walkover was undertaken by South West Archaeology during May 2012 and identified a total of 227 potential archaeological features. This work is detailed in a report (Walls and Morris, 2012 - SEM8034).
In order to ground truth the results of the initial walkover, the EMP Historic Environment Officer undertook follow-up survey on 27th September and 4th October 2012, which also added a further two archaeological features to the total. This report presents the results of this survey and updates the results and conclusions of the initial survey.
Also noted were two modern BT manhole covers indicating the presence of buried services.
