MEM23425 - 20th Century signpost north of Webber's Post, Luccombe (Building)

The signpost was manufactured by Sheldon Wells and replaced an earlier wooden signpost to the south.

Full Description

A guide post is marked on modern MasterMap data. [1] The signpost was visited in October 2015 and its condition assessed. It has SCC (Somerset County Council) repeated on the four sides of a pyramid finial. The attached fingers read: LUCCOMBE 1 PORLOCK 2 1/2 CLOUTSHAM 1/2 EXFORD 6 1/2 DUNKERY BEACON 2 1/2 WHEDDON CROSS 4 1/2 The post was made by Sheldon Wells. [2] SS 9033 4401. A typical mid 20th Century Sheldon Wells fingerpost that replaced a wooden post to the south, at Webber's Post (MEM25243). [3] The direction to Dunkery Beacon and Wheddon Cross was snapped off and missing November 2022. A new arm, cast by Cerdic Foundry, funded by donations to CareMoor for Exmoor, was fitted October 2023 [4] The heritage asset was assessed for inclusion on the Exmoor Local Heritage List in February 2024. It was decided to add the asset to the Local Heritage List. [5]
