MMO2420 - Medieval or post-medieval field boundary or enclosure bank northeast of Allcombe Water (Monument)

A field boundary or enclosure bank of possible medieval date or post-medieval is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards centred on circa SS 8296 4060, on the very steep northeast facing slopes above Allcombe Water. The enclosure is rectilinear in shape and follows the contours of the combe. Although fragmentary, it is clear the earthwork encloses roughly 0.5 hectares of the valley side. It may be associated with more extensive field boundaries on the south and west facing slopes to the north of Allcombe Water.
