MEM23477 - 20th Century signpost on Holly Tree Triangle, Exford (Building)

A guide post is marked on modern MasterMap data. [1] The signpost was visited in October 2015 and its condition assessed. It has SCC (Somerset County Council) repeated on the four sides of a pyramid finial. The attached fingers read: MINEHEAD 13 1/2 WINSFORD 4 1/2 B3224 DULVERTON 10 WITHYPOOL 2 1/2 CLOUTSHAM 4 3/4 PORLOCK 8 SIMONSBATH 5 1/4 LYNTON 15 1/4 WHEDDON CROSS 5 TAUNTON 26 1/2 B3224 2 1/2 Westermill Farm [image of tent and campervan] The post was made by Sheldon Wells. [2] SS 8535 3841. Holly Tree, Exford. A post is shown to the south of the present location in a photograph dating from 1955. The current post was not extant at this time; this is a mid 20th Century Sheldon Wells type. This may have occurred to update the road number to B3224, which likely occurred prior to 1964, when installation of cast iron posts ceased. [3] The heritage asset was assessed for inclusion on the Exmoor Local Heritage List in February 2024. It was decided to add the asset to the Local Heritage List. [4]
