SWARCH were commissioned to undertake a desk-based assessment, historic building assessment and archaeological monitoring at Shircombe Farmhouse, Brompton Regis, Somerset. At this stage a full building assessment has not yet been undertaken and this report presents the results of the desk-based assessment, archaeological monitoring and an appraisal of the roof only. The Grade II Listed farmhouse at Shircombe is a largely mid 19th Century re build and enlargement of a 17th Century three cell cross passage house with a lateral stack. The axial stack at the western end of the building is an 18th Century addition. Between the addition of this stack and the mid 19th Century enlargement, the building appears to have fallen into a semi ruinous state.
