MSO7515 - Post-medieval quarries northwest of Luxborough (Monument)

Summary

The remains of two small quarries of unknown date, visible on aerial photographs taken in 1981, may be associated with Westcott Quarry.

Full Description

The remains of two small adjacent quarries of unknown date were seen centred at SS 9723 3806. They were both seen surviving as quarried hollows and mapped from aerial photographs. [1,2] The quarries do not appear on the 1st or 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps. [3,4] Probably associated with Wescott Quarry (MSO7471). [5] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [6]
