MSO12360 - Prehistoric standing stone on Withypool Common (Monument)

A standing stone is recorded as being removed from this position in around 1920. It is possibly the same stone located during field survey in 1995.

Full Description

A stone about 3 feet high stood alongside the headwater of the Portford Stream but was removed in about 1920 during road alterations according to a local farmer. [1] A stone was located at the above National Grid Reference and is recorded under MSO8749. It is not clear if this is related to the stone referred to by [1]. [2]
