Full Description

Chest tomb. Late C15-early C16. Local stone squared and coursed, flat topped monolithic slab, steeply chamfered cornice. Slab split diagonally in two and weatherworn. Inset panel at east end with shield bearing unidentified coat of arms. Partially sunk. Forms a pair with similar unidentified chest tomb (qv) to south. Rare survival of an early chest tomb. [1] English Heritage Listed Building Number: 265359. First Listed on 05/06/1985. [2] Stone walls. [3] The building was visited in June 2012 as part of the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. It received a BAR score of 1A. [4]
