Full Description

Two cottages, now single dwelling. C16, altered late C20. Red sandstone random rubble, whitewashed facade, thatched roof, external stone stack right gable end and left of through passage. Plan: originally 2 single cell cottages separated by through passage, left cottage entered from through passage beside stack, right hand one entered from now blocked entrance on facade. One and a half storeys, 2-bays, all C19 casement dormers rising from eaves with weatherboarded gable ends, ground floor 3-light casement left of entrance, 2-light right below wooden lintel with lintel to blocked entrance beyond; peaked C16 door frame with inserted jambs, stable type part-glazed door. Right return, small glazed opening in chimney brest; left return leaded early C19 iron casement with segmental head, buttress. Outshut addition at rear. Interior not seen. [3] The building was visited in May 2012 as part of the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. It received a BAR score of 6. [4]
