MMO1858 - Possible Bronze Age hut circle on Countisbury Common (Monument)

A circular banked feature is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork and may be the remains of a Bronze Age hut circle. A similar feature is visible approximately 40 metres to the northwest (see MMO1857).

A circular banked feature is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork on Countisbury Common and may be the remains of a prehistoric hut circle, possibly dating to the Bronze Age.Centred at SS 7499 5005, to the southeast of the summit of Butter Hill, the feature measures approximately 5 metres across, with the interior of the bank measuring 3 metres. It is similar in shape to the Bronze Age hut circles recorded in SS 64 NW (for example, MDE8961) but approximately half the size. A similar feature is visible approximately 40 metres to the northwest (see MMO1857). Further study will be required to assess these features.
