Full Description

A catchwork water meadow of probable 19th Century date is visible on aerial photographs as earthworks to the north of Cloud Farm, centred on circa SS 7940 4682, Oare parish. The course of the water channels, known locally as gutters, can be inferred from the marks created by water spilling downslope during operation on aerial photographs of 1947. However they can be seen more clearly as earthworks on 1995 photography. They were probably fed from Badgeworthy Water but the possibility that they were associated with, and possibly fed from, the extensive carriage channel or headmain approximately 200 metres to the east (MMO1705) must be considered.
