Full Description

A rectangular building is shown at SS 8468 3971 within a larger enclosure on the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. A pond abuts the enclosure to the south, at SS 8467 3969. The site is labelled "Higher Barn". [1] The barn, enclosure and pond are not shown on the Exford Tithe Map. [2] The layout shown on the 1st Edition map is repeated on the 25 inch 2nd Edition map. [3] The barn, enclosure and pond all appear to be extant on the 1946-8 Royal Air Force photographs of the site. [4] 2020 MasterMap data shows that the barn appears to have been extended to the southwest. The pond is shown as an enclosed area, but isn't shown to contain water. [5]
