MEM24189 - Bronze Age burial cairn south of Old Barrow Plantation (Monument)

A small stony mound is covered with grass and may be the remains of a disturbed prehistoric funerary cairn, part of the Bronze Age ceremonial landscape on the summits of Old Barrow Down and Hawkridge Plain.

SS 83833 32641. A low, grass covered, stony mound lies to the south of Old Barrow Plantation. The mound is 5.5 metres north to south, 4 metres east to west and 0.8 metres high, with a reed filled central hollow 0.6 metres deep. It may be the remains of a disturbed prehistoric funerary cairn, part of the ceremonial landscape on the summits of Old Barrow Down and Hawkridge Plain. [1]
