Full Description

A guide post is marked on modern MasterMap data. [1] The signpost was visited in September 2015 and its condition assessed. It has SCC (Somerset County Council) repeated on the four sides of a pyramid finial. The attached fingers read: WINSFORD 1 1/2 WITHYPOOL 5 1/4 EXFORD 6 SIMONSBATH 11 1/2 DULVERTON 6 1/4 BAMPTON 9 1/2 A396 TIVERTON 16 1/2 EXETER 30 1/2 A396 DUNSTER 10 MINEHEAD 12 1/2 A396 The collar reads COPPLEHAM CROSS. The post was made by Sheldon Wells. [2] A Guide Post is indicated on the OS 1st Edition map and labelled Coppleham Cross. [3] The current post is a typical mid 20th Century Sheldon Wells post. [4] The post was monitored and repainted in 2023 [5] The heritage asset was assessed for inclusion on the Exmoor Local Heritage List in February 2024. It was decided to add the asset to the Local Heritage List. [6]
