Full Description

A former mine shaft to the northwest of Blacklands Mine at circa SS 8387 3690, with which it was related. It is 61 metres deep and connecting with North adit, approximately 250 metres to the eastsoutheast. [1] An 'Old Shaft' is depicted and annotated at SS 8387 3691 on the Ordnance Survey 1st Edition County Series 1:2500 map, in an area of rough ground. It occupies the space in a corner of the parish boundary between Withypool and Hawkridge and Exford Parishes. [2] The 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey map depicts the feature with an additional small earthwork to the south. [3]
