Full Description

Moorland View. House, possibly formerly part of larger house. Probably early 17th century, probably remodelled in the mid to late 19th Century. Coursed stone rubble and cob. Cob to first floor at front refaced in stone rubble in the 20th Century. Some larger dressed stone quoins and 19th Century brick dressings. Gable-ended asbestos-slate roof. Brick stacks. Plan: two-room central-entrance plan, facing south-east. External end stack to larger principal right-hand room and integral end stack to smaller left-hand room. The house is probably a remodelling of a (possibly larger) 17th Century house. The old front doorway into the right-hand room was probably blocked when the present doorway was probably inserted in the 19th century. Cranked rear wall. Two storeys. More detail in listed description. [1] The building was visited in September 2012 as part of the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. It received a BAR score of 5. [2]
