Full Description

Dennis headstone c5m south of south east corner of south porch of church of St Thomas. Headstone 1820. Slate. Shouldered nowy head. Elaborate incised decoration with verse around the head, figure of angel blowing trumpet and open books to each side that to left inscribed 'Life how short' that to right 'Eternity how long'. Inscription to James Lovering Dennis (died 1820). [1] The gravestone was not located during the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. It received a BAR score of 1A. [2]
