Full Description

(SS 9193 3033) A rapid examination of aerial photography suggests the presence of a circular enclosure earthwork visible immediately northeast of Halscombe Farm, possibly a post-medieval pond. [1,2] The 1973 Ordnance Survey 1:2500 map shows a series of ponds to the north of Halscombe Farm, centred at SS 9193 3029 [3]. These ponds are not depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition (25 inch) mapping of the area [4], suggesting that the ponds are of 20th century origin. [5] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [6]
