MSO8997 - Post-medieval mounds on Haddon Hill (Monument)

Summary

A number of small amorphous mounds on the slopes of Hadborough Hill. They are clearly post-medieval or later in date and may be associated with peat working or field clearance.

Full Description

A dispersed group of small mounds on the slopes of Hadborough. They vary from 1.4 metres in diameter to 3.5 metres in diameter. They are presumably post-medieval in date and are probably associated with peat working (see MSO12685), clearance and other aspects of land improvement. [1-2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
