Full Description
Small area of mineral extraction, centred at SS 9655 3223 and visible on vertical air photographs. The small extraction pits and associated spoil tips, lie on the crest of the west facing slope of the Blagdon Hill, immediately above the tree-line of the Kings Brompton Forest. [1,2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3] An area of irregular earthworks remains extant, visible in LiDAR. Trackways, or possibly channels associated with nearby water-management features, are visible in aerial photographs dating to 1946. [4] This record was enhanced by Cornwall HER for the Forestry Commission's Project K. [5]
