MSO11789 - Possible Bronze Age burial cairn on Dunkery Hill (Monument)

Summary

A possible Bronze Age burial cairn was noted on aerial photographs but was not located during subsequent field survey.

Full Description

Round mound. [1,2] Probably a cairn as are others on the hill. [3] A round mound, probably a prehistoric cairn, was recorded at SS 9195 4260 [2]. This National Grid Reference falls close to a field bank, part of a post medieval field system, recorded as MMO529. No such mound was discovered in this area; a probable prehistoric burial cairn and several clearance cairns were recorded 450 metres to the southwest (MSO6259) [4] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project.
