MSO11683 - Leigh Deserted Farmstead, Winsford (Monument)

This is a deserted farmsite with clear earthworks visible on aerial photographs. [1] A complex of small irregular enclosures formed by banks or broken walls with possible building remains was noted on aerial photographs. Two trackways lead to the south, the one to the west being an uneven wide depression which is either a holloway or natural feature. [2-4] Nothing shown on 1904 map. [5] Isolated building marked "Lee Farm" on 1979 Ordnance Survey map. [6] Building shown on Winsford Tithe Map at c. SS 8928 3722 with a routeway to the north. The building is probably part of field parcels 67 or 153, neither of which mention a farmstead in the Tithe Apportionment, so it may have been unused by this time.
