MSO11342 - Possible Bronze Age burial cairn southeast of Joaney How (Monument)

A small mound was discovered in 1976, measuring 3.5 metres in diameter and 0.3 metres high, 55 metres from Joaney How, on a bearing of 111 degrees. It is heather covered and in good condition. [1] The mound is included in the revised scheduling on 23 April 2003. [2] Many similar mounds were located on Dunkery Hill. They are unlikely to be prehistoric burial cairns and are more likely to be associated with recent activity on the hill. [3] The Scheduled Monument Condition Assessment of 2009 gave the site a survival score of 0. [4] The site was surveyed in April 2015 as part of the 2015 Exmoor Scheduled Monument Condition Assessment. It was given a survival score of 0. [5] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [6]
