Full Description

The site is shown as a clear area on the Tithe Map for Luccombe. [1] "Rydon's Quarry (Disused)" is depicted and labelled on the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. A track runs across the site from Ebshill Lane to the east to the western working face, and a small building is shown in the centre of the feature at c. SS 9100 4554. [2] The layout shown in [1] is repeated on the Ordnance Survey map of c1904. [3] The quarry is depicted but only the access is track labelled on the 2018 MasterMap data. The building shown on earlier map edition no longer appears to be extant. The 1:25,000 colour raster mapping does, however, label the site as "Quarry (disused)". [4,5]
