MSO10083 - Undated circular enclosure on Lype Common (Monument)

Summary

A circular enclosure on Lype Common, 22m in diameter. It is defined by a ditch and bank but is of uncertain date and function. It was visible on aerial photographs taken in 1947 and 1969.

Full Description

The earthwork remains of a small circular enclosure of unknown date and function seen on Lype Common at SS 9550 3702. The enclosure is defined by an outer ditch and an inner bank and has a diameter of 22 metres. The enclosure was seen as an earthwork and mapped from aerial photographs. [1-3] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [4]
