Full Description

A system of post-medieval field gutters, visible on aerial photographs taken in 1952, probably form part of a water meadow, known locally as a catch meadow irrigation system. The remains of six roughly parallel ditches, measuring from 25 metres to 105 metres, extend along the contour, on a west facing slope overlooking the River Exe, immediately north of Baronsdown Farm. They are centred at SS 9316 2897. [1-3] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project.
