Full Description

A pair of post-medieval leats, which may have supplied the workings at Bampfylde Mine, are visible on aerial photographs as earthworks west of Lower Fyldon Cross, North Molton. The leats run from a pond at SS 7378 3358 south towards Little Mines Wood, but fade from view before reaching the mine itself. They measure approximately 185 to 200 metres in length. Several other leats have been recorded in this area and may be associated with the mining activity at Bampfylde. [1,2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
