Full Description

A small circular mound is visible on aerial photographs as a slight earthwork lying immediately south of the larger barrows on North Molton. Centred on high ground at approximately SS 7788 3247, the mound measures some 19 metres across, comparable in size to the existing barrow which lies 85 metres to the north. Its precise date and function are uncertain, but given its proximity to the larger barrows it is possibly the remains of a Bronze Age funerary monument such as a cairn. Further examination is required to confirm this interpretation.
