Full Description

A relict field boundary is visible as a low earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946, on the southeast facing slopes of Mounsey Hill centred on circa SS 8922 3162. It abuts the line of the road to the west and an extant boundary to the east, and matches the orientation and pattern of the surrounding field system, supporting an interpretation of a probable post-medieval date. However, the convention employed by the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map for the field in which it is located indicates rough or unimproved ground, which may indicate that it had been abandoned prior to 1890. The earthwork cannot be seen on later aerial photographs, indicating that it has been levelled.
