MMO3019 - Possible prehistoric enclosure northeast of Newland (Monument)

Summary

A very faint linear cropmark is visible on aerial photographs of 1952. The date and function of the feature are unclear, but it is possible the cropmark is forming over the levelled bank of an enclosure of later prehistoric date.

Full Description

A very faint linear cropmark is visible on aerial photographs of 1952, close to the summit of the hill to the northwest of Newland Cross. The date and function of the feature are unclear, but it is possible the cropmark is forming over the levelled bank of an enclosure of later prehistoric date. [1,2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
