Full Description

A small circular mound is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork on the southeastern side of Brendon Common, overlooking Hoccombe Combe, Brendon. Centred at approximately SS 7761 4428 and measuring 5.5 metres in diameter, it lies some 500 metres due north of a group of prehistoric cairns, and may well be contemporary with them, probably dating to the later prehistoric or Bronze Age period. [1,2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
