Full Description

A now recumbent probable standing stone located on gently sloping ground to the south west of the head of Hanny Combe, at approximately SS 90942 41967 [1]. The stone was located during a walkover survey in 2025 as part of peatland restoration mitigation works. The slab is distinctive and formed of local sandstone, measuring 0.6m in length, 0.25m in width and 0.06m in thickness. [2] The proximity to the cairn cemetery to the south supports the hypothesis that this is a fallen standing stone rather than a natural feature.
