Full Description

The plantation known as Birch Cleave, which covered 26 acres, was the only one created by John Knight prior to 1840. [1] Birchcleave Wood is depicted and labelled on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. It includes two major footpaths, one that crosses the site east to west and another that skirts the western edge from SS 7745 3933 (near the Vicarage) to SS 7757 3896, at the southernmost end of the plantation. [2] The wood is similarly shown on the 2021 MasterMap data; however, the interior layout of footpaths has been subject to change. [3]
