Full Description
The farmstead is shown on the Tithe Map for Dulverton and labelled "Higher Marsh". The buildings are within land parcel 595, with associated enclosures around the buildings labelled 591-594. The group are owned by the Reverend George Anstey, leased by John Hinam. 595 is described as "Higher Marsh Homestead", 591-593 are orchards and 594 is described as a garden. [1] The buildings are again shown and labelled "Higher Marsh" on the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. A few outbuildings have been added to the site. [2] By the time the 2021 MasterMap data was created, most of the outbuildings around the site had been removed. The main farmhouse (at SS 9073 2924) and attached buildings were still apparently extant. [3] In 2025 an archaeological watching brief took place in advance of building work, but no archaeological deposits were uncovered. [4]
