Full Description

The Tithe Map for Wootton Courtenay depicts an earthwork at SS 9245 4415, within land parcel 38. The Apportionment describes this as "Lower Hunscott: Quarry", owned by The Right Honorable Lord Sherborne and occupied by Michael Hole. [1] The feature is shown on the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. It had been enlarged to the north but is labelled "Old Quarry", suggesting it was no longer in use. [2] The quarry is shown similarly on the 2021 MasterMap data, but is not labelled. [3]
