Full Description

An earthwork pit is depicted but not labelled on the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map at SS 9328 4563, against the southern boundary of a large field. [1] The feature is not depicted but is located at the eastern end of a linear land parcel shown on the Tithe Map for Selworthy and labelled 641. The Apportionment states this was part of "Adams's", owned by Sir Charles Dyke Acland, Bart, and occupied by Hugh Rendell. The plot is named "Claylands". [2] The feature is again shown on the 25 inch 2nd and 3rd Edition maps. [3,4] The feature is not depicted but is shown within an area of woodland and shrub on the 2020 MasterMap data. [5]
