Full Description

An L shaped building is shown on the Tithe Map for Wootton Courtenay at SS 9398 4343. It is within a parcel of land labelled 593, which the Apportionment describes as "Hurfords Cottage and Garden", owned by The Right Honorable Lord Sherborne and occupied by Thomas Prescott. [1] The building is shown on the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map, apparently with some subdivisions. [2] It is also shown on the 6 inch 1962 Ordnance Survey map. It appears to have been labelled "PO" (or Post Office), although this may relate to a neighbouring building. [3] By the time the 25 inch 1972 Ordnance Survey map was surveyed, only a small section at the western end of the property remained on the site. [4] The plot is shown as completely clear on the 6 inch 1974 map. [5]
