The settlement first appears on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. Its historic core has been deduced from historic mapping, although may extend beyond the mapped area. It is noticeably positioned at the eastern end of a medieval and/or post-medieval routeway leading to Barton Town (MMO2049). [1-4]
