Full Description

A signpost was surveyed in June 2017 as part of the Exmoor Signpost Survey 2017-8. It has a pyramidal finial inscribed with "S C C" on each face. The three fingers below feature the following inscriptions: WITHYPOOL 3 3/4 TARR STEPS 1 1/4 DULVERTON 5 1/2 The post below states SOMERSET SHELDON WELLS. N.B. The mileage for Tarr Steps originally said 2 1/4 but has been painted over with the current mileage shown above. [1] The signpost has been mapped on the HER using 2018 Ordnance Survey MasterMap data. [2] The heritage asset was assessed for inclusion on the Exmoor Local Heritage List in February 2024. It was decided to add the asset to the Local Heritage List. [3]
