Full Description

The Tithe Map for Wootton Courtenay shows an earthwork feature at SS 9287 4415, together with a small circular feature at SS 9290 4416. Bother are shown in a small wooded land parcel labelled 87, which the accompanying Apportionment describes as "Quarry Lime Kiln and Copse", owned by The Right Honorable Lord Sherborne and John Siderfin, and occupied by Thomas Siderfin. [1] The site is labelled as an old quarry on the 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps. The earthwork for the quarry is depicted but the lime kiln is not. [2,3] In 2018, the site is shown as wooded. [4]
