MEM24303 - Possible natural feature or quarry southeast of Thornmead (Monument)
Summary
A linear group of possibly quarried irregular cuttings and depressions in the hillside at a combe head were noted on aerial photographs. These may be the result of quarrying but have alternatively been interpreted as a natural feature.

Full Description
A linear group of possibly quarried irregular cuttings and depressions in the hillside at a combe head were noted on aerial photographs. [1-3] Part of some of the features appear to mirror those shown on the 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps and modern MasterMap data, which outline a change in vegetation. [4,5]
