MEM23621 - Demolished buildings at Townsend, Winsford (Monument)

The Tithe Map for Winsford shows two structures centred at SS 9048 3461 and SS 9049 3461. They are arranged parallel to each other, one fronting Halse Lane and one directly behind with a small central extension on its southeastern face. These sit within land parcel 673, with a clear plot labelled 672 to the east. Together, these are described in the Apportionment as "Three Cottages and Gardens" in a place called Townsend, owned by Sir Thomas Dyke Acland and occupied by William Clatworthy. [1] By the time the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map had been surveyed, the rear (southeastern) building had been demolished. The remaining building is depicted as being divided into two. [2] The remaining building had been demolished by the time the 2nd Edition map was created. [3]
