A post-medieval quarry was visible and annotated on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey mapping. The earthwork is depicted but not annotated on the 2nd Edition map, indicating it had fallen out of use by this time. [1, 2] The location of the quarry was reassessed in 2026 after analysis of LiDAR data showed a large area of disturbance to the east of the traditional site. Mapping was adapted to include this area of operations. [3]
