Full Description

The Historic Environment Officer for the Exmoor Mires Project undertook a non intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Spooners, which included this site. An isolated recumbent surface stone was located on the downslope side of a drainage ditch. The visible portion measures 0.9 metres by 0.45 metres and it is most likely to have originated as spoil from the adjacent ditch, probably during the post-medieval period. [1]
