A revetted earthwork platform in Embelle Wood is probably the remains of a charcoal burning platform. The date of the earthwork is uncertain.

Full Description

A charcoal burning platform of uncertain date is visible as a revetted earthwork platform to the western end of Embelle Wood, at circa SS 81120 49252. The feature is a flat oval platform approximately 6 metres by 4 metres in size. The rear of the platform is cut into the hillslope by approximately 1.75 metres. The front is roughly stone revetted to a height of circa 1.3 metres, with some slippage to the stone. [1]
