Full Description

Three disused quarries, possibly dug for roads. Quarry C, SS 8093 3039. [1] Two quarries are depicted and labelled on the 25 inch Ordnance Survey map. The first abuts the western side of the road up to Ridgway Cross, at SS80903039; the second is at SS 8093 3039 and is reached by a routeway leaving the road halfway between the first quarry and Ridgway Cross. [2] The quarries are depicted but not labelled on the 25 inch 2nd Edition map. [3] The eastern quarry is depicted on 2018 MasterMap data, although the routeway to the feature is not. It is labelled "Workings (dis)". [4]
