Full Description

An 'old quarry' is shown on the first edition OS 6" (1906) map. [1] 'Quarry (disused)' is shown on os 1:10000 (1973) map. [2] Both imply the presence of a post medieval quarry in this area at East Anstey Common. LiDAR analysis in 2026 confirmed the presence of disturbance and depressions in the ground consistent with small scale quarrying activity. [3] The quarrying area is also clearly visible in aerial photographs from 1946 onwards. [4]
