MDE20562 - Possible prehistoric stone setting east of Higher Westland Farm (Monument)

Summary

A map from 1797 notes the presence of 'five stones', marking the corner of the parish boundary. It is possible these formed a stone setting, which was used to mark the boundary.

Full Description

Robert Ballment's plan of Rowley Down dated 1797 shows "five stones" on corner of boundary of land attached to Little Rowley. Also on parish boundary. Possibly a stone setting which was used to mark parish boundary. [1,2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
